Cole Silva, a junior at MSU, has joined the lab.

In addition to the summer research symposium presentations (below), we said goodbye today to Patric Vaelli, who turned in his dissertation this morning and headed off to Boston to start a postdoc with lab alum Nick Bellono. I should have gotten a photo of me signing the dissertation in a parking lot outside a cafe in Lansing; instead I’ll post this photo of Patric relaxing at his post-defense party in the lab last month.

Time flies! Here are Emma (top) and Hope (bottom) presenting their summer research at the annual Mid-Michigan Symposium for Undergraduate Research Experiences. In a few short days they’ll be heading back to Willamette University.

In addition, lab member Zahraa Al-Tameemi presented the first installment of her independent research project at Mid-SURE today. Can’t wait to see how this works out.
